10 Essential Questions to Ask Your Wedding Videographer
Planning your wedding? Ensure you hire the perfect wedding videographer by asking these 10 important questions that cover everything from experience and style to packages and deliverables.
Your wedding day is a beautiful tapestry of precious moments and heartfelt emotions, and capturing those memories on film allows you to relive them for years to come. Choosing the right wedding videographer is crucial to ensure your special day is artfully documented in a way that aligns with your vision. To help you find the perfect match, here are 10 essential questions to ask your wedding videographer during the selection process.
1. What is your videography style?
Understanding the videographer's style is crucial as it will dictate how your wedding film will look and feel. Some videographers adopt a cinematic approach, while others prefer a documentary or storytelling style. Discuss your preferences and ensure their style resonates with your vision.
2. Can we see samples of your previous work?
Reviewing a videographer's portfolio or sample videos will give you a glimpse into their artistic style, storytelling ability, and overall quality of work. It will help you determine if their style aligns with your personal taste and expectations. Be sure to review their website and YouTube and social channels to get as many samples as possible.
3. How many weddings have you filmed?
Experience is valuable in the wedding videography industry. Inquire about the number of weddings the videographer has covered to ensure they have a solid understanding of the flow and dynamics of a wedding day.
4. Are you available on our wedding date?
Confirming the videographer's availability on your wedding date is crucial before proceeding with any further discussions. If they are not available, inquire if they have a team or associate videographers who can cover your event.
5. What is included in your wedding videography packages?
Discuss the specifics of what each package includes. Inquire about the number of hours of coverage, the number of videographers present, and any additional services such as drone footage or same-day edits. Understand the deliverables, such as the final edited film, highlight reels, and raw footage.
6. Do you have backup equipment?
It's important to ensure your wedding videographer has backup equipment in case of any technical issues. Backup cameras, audio equipment, and additional memory cards are essential to prevent any disruptions to your wedding day coverage.
7. Can we provide a list of specific moments we want to be captured?
If there are specific moments or elements of your wedding day that are particularly important to you, communicate them to the videographer. Discuss whether they are open to following a shot list or specific requests to ensure your priorities are captured.
8. How long will it take to receive the final edited video?
The turnaround time for receiving the final edited video can vary among videographers. Inquire about the estimated delivery timeline to manage your expectations and plan accordingly. In our experience, unless you paid for an expedited edit, be wary of any videographer that promises a super short timeline (a week or less) or more than 10 months.
9. What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Unforeseen circumstances may lead to the need for cancellation or rescheduling. Ensure you understand the videographer's cancellation and refund policy to avoid any surprises or financial implications. Most videographers will do their best for rescheduling but be sure to take note on any non-refundable portions of your deposit or payment as this is common practice.
10. Can you provide references or testimonials from past clients?
Requesting references or reading testimonials from previous clients will give you insights into the videographer's professionalism, communication, and overall client satisfaction. It will help you gauge their reliability and the quality of their services.
Remember, open and honest communication with your potential wedding videographer is key to ensuring you find the perfect fit for your special day. Asking these essential questions will provide valuable insights to make an informed decision and ultimately choose a videographer who will beautifully capture the essence of your wedding day, creating a timeless keepsake for you to cherish.
A Cross Creek Ranch Wedding | Samantha + Daniel
Samantha and Daniel are super creative and rooted in theatrics! They are so outgoing and fun-loving, being a part of their wedding day was an absolute blast. We had a torrential downpour as Samantha was walking down the aisle, but we brought out the umbrellas and they didn't let it stop them from getting married!
We were at Cross Creek Ranch for the second weekend in a row! It’s one of our favorite venues to film at and when you have an amazing couple like Samantha and Daniel.
Congratulations Samantha and Daniel! Here is their wedding film…
A Dali Museum Wedding | Jessica & Robbie
We absolutely loved this wedding!
Jessica and Robbie’s beautiful wedding with family and friends at The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg! This was nothing short of a fairytale love story on a perfect day. Since both Jessica and Robbie come from Scotland, many family and friends came over for their wedding and it was great to see Scottish traditions in Southwest Florida!
It was a pleasure working with the planning and day-of coordinators at Glitz Events, the amazing hair & makeup artistry of the Lasting Luxe team, and the gorgeous florals by Bruce Wayne Florals. Olympia Catering outdid themselves with the mac and cheese and flatbread pizza and DJ Fresh knew how to throw an amazing party and get everyone dancing!
Congratulations, Jessica and Robbie! Here is their wedding film…
